My Soldier

He is loyal to his country

He will be there when they call

He works too many hours

But won’t complain at all

When allowed his family follows him

Sometimes he goes alone

In harms way he often finds himself

Longing for his home

Many stand behind him

And remember him as they pray

Others don’t receive him well

And turn their heads away

This man is the soldier I love

And of him I am proud

“Be strong and safe My Soldier”

I often pray aloud

The last time that I held him

Was when he left to fight

The next time that I see him

May be in Heaven’s sight

So pray for all the Soldiers

Who risk their all for you

For your freedom of speech

Religion and your right choose

Remember the sacrifice his family makes

As he walks out the door

Think of his country and his flag

And all that they stand for
